Ho Chi Minh City – Day 2
Our second day in Ho Chi Minh City turned out to be even hotter than the first. 38°C. We walked most of the day, taking shelter from the scorching sun in small cafés.
Our first stop of the day was to Tan Dinh Church. A pink church built in Romanian style. Sadly it was closed so we only get to admire its pinkness from the outside.

After the church we walked over to the Jade Emperor Pagoda, a secluded place of worship for the supreme Taoist God. No photos from inside as they didn’t allow photography, but the wood carvings were beautiful.

We were quite hungry so we headed to see The Lunch Lady about some ‘bún bò Huè’ (Hue style beef noodle soup) and it did not disappoint. We met friendly local man who has been eating there every day. He swore by the Pho. No photos as we were truly hungry 🤤 and forgot to take any. Look up Anthony Bourdain’s episode about HCMC, he does it more justice 😉.
The heat was still relentless. Warmed by the soup, and the sun in equal amounts we decided that a museum would be a good place to kill the hottest hours of the day and so we went to the History Museum where we learned about the cultural history of Vietnam throughout the centuries and the people inhabiting its different areas.

There was a tea house where we enjoyed some white and red tea then headed to the Skydeck of the Bitexco Financial Tower. The tallest building in Vietnam.
The views were stunning

We spent the rest of our time wandering around – heading back towards our hotel – before going to the airport, catching a short flight to Hoi An.
